Root Canal Treatment
Leominster Endodontics strives to provide endodontic care in a comfortable, caring, and compassionate environment. We offer personalized, comprehensive root canal treatments to save your teeth and restore your smile. Serving patients across Central Massachusetts, trust Dr. Miller to perform your root canal procedure with exceptional care.
A root canal treatment is performed to remove infected pulp and nerve in the root of the tooth. The tooth is then cleaned, and we shape the inside of the root canal. Afterward, we fill and seal the space to ensure a healthy tooth.
Endodontic Microsurgery
Leominster Endodontics uses state-of-the-art technology to restore your oral health. Endodontic microsurgery is a surgical procedure that utilizes a microscope and special microsurgical instruments to identify and restore your tooth. With the increased magnification, our doctor is better able to see the problems and can diagnose much quicker. We use these microsurgical tools for all treatments.
Retreatment
Once in a while, root canal therapy is not always successful, and a patient may experience post-surgical complications. Root canal retreatment involves removing the previous crown and packing material, cleansing the root canals, and then repacking and re-crowning the tooth. If a tooth has good bone support, a solid surface, and healthy gums beneath it, it stands a good chance of being saved.
Apicoectomy
An apicoectomy or “root canal surgery” is a procedure that is used to fix a tooth that has previously had root canal treatment, but is now infected. Unlike a retreatment, an apicoectomy uses a surgical approach to remove infection and place a cement seal at the tip of the root of a tooth. Oftentimes an apicoectomy can be used to remove a broken instrument that has separated inside the root of a tooth, or to treat a root with an extreme curve where conventional root canal may not be sufficient. Apicoectomies can be used to treat roots that are very calcified, or to treat root fractures due to trauma. The decision to retreat an existing root canal with a retreatment or a surgical apicoectomy is made by the dentist who will weigh a number of different factors to determine which approach may be best to treat a certain condition.

Internal Bleaching
Internal bleaching is a technique our endodontists utilize to whiten the appearance of teeth and is different to over-the-counter solutions used to whiten teeth. Internal bleaching can only be performed by your dentist after a successful root canal treatment.
